Adams Avenue Business Association

Telling Stories in the Heart of San Diego's Historic Business District

We approached the AABA with a proposal

The Adams Avenue Business Association is amazing at a lot of things. They throw some of the best events in San Diego, including the Adams Avenue Street Fair, Adams Unplugged, the Taste of Adams Avenue and more. We thought the business association could do more to tell that story, with a website overhaul and some ongoing storytelling, so we offered our services to overhaul the look, feel and functionality of the site.

But first ...

The AABA wasn't ready to just dive into a redesign. To start with, they hadn't had professional photographers documenting their marquee events for many years. And they ready to green light the cost of a redesign right away. They inquired if Uptown 11 could help them build a branded partnership program that would bring much-needed revenue to the AABA, while also bringing partners to Adams Avenue who could share their organizations' stories at our title events. We took on the challenge.

Building bridges, raising funds

Our core business is telling stories with visuals and copy the caliber of The New York Times. But we were up for a new challenge. So, in a matter of months, we:

  1. Built out pitch decks, marketing materials, rewards systems and a partner pipeline.

  2. Conducted direct outreach to San Diego's top businesses, brokered negotiations and facilitated partners through the process.

  3. Brought nearly $100,000 of new revenue to the AABA in the program's first few months, setting us up with systems for building a long-term program.

All the while

We were documenting the events throughout the year, rewarding our partners with images of themselves interacting on Adams Avenue, as well as telling the story of the businesses that make up the district and building a large repository of imagery that told the AABA's story.

Finally

The AABA was ready to invest in a new website just as we finished our mission-critical work of building out our library of visual assets and our deep understanding of the organization's goals and priorities. We delivered a revamped website in late 2024, just in time to begin another great year of work with the organization. It is scheduled to launch in the coming weeks and we can't wait to share it with you here.
