A few things that the neighborhood café bica and the local camera shop Camera Exposure have in common:
- They’re community hubs: bica hosts some of San Diego’s most popular dinner parties and provides a stage for the Adams Run Club and the Yearbook Creative Club. Camera Exposure hosts print hangs and gallery shows and runs a DIY community film lab and darkroom.
- They’re locally owned by dynamic duos who can be found in-store, running their respective businesses daily.
- They both decided to set up shop on Adams Avenue — the heart of San Diego’s historic business district.
- They’re both “Powered by Uptown 11,” meaning we work with them on an ongoing basis to build community through storytelling.
- They’ve both been nominated by San Diego Magazine readers as best in their respective industries.
We couldn’t agree more. And we’d love it if you’d take a moment to vote for our friends and colleagues who pour their hearts and souls into their businesses.
These two organizations are the real deal. In an era when everyone is dropping “community” as a marketing buzzword, these business owners are walking the walk and building genuine IRL communities along Adams Avenue.
