Girl Scouts San Diego set out to capture the courage, confidence, and character their members build every day — and to move the donors and families who make that work possible. They came to Uptown 11 with a focused first ask: two short films to premiere at Urban Campout, their annual fundraiser on the Balboa Park campus.

We embedded with Girl Scouts at summer camp and across the Balboa Park campus — interviewing staff and volunteers and following girls through everything from high-adventure challenges to quiet moments of mentorship. From that footage we produced two short films that debuted at Urban Campout in 2024.

The films landed. They resonated with the room, with donors, and with the organization’s leadership — so much so that a two-film project became an ongoing partnership. Girl Scouts San Diego brought Uptown 11 on as their full-service photo and video team on retainer.

Since then we’ve documented the organization across its programs and milestones — emerging leaders, Gold Award Girl Scouts, girls overcoming obstacles on the ropes course at camp, and the sisterhood that ties it all together — producing the growing library of films featured on this page.

Two films became a body of work. Uptown 11 now serves as Girl Scouts San Diego’s ongoing photo and video partner, capturing the people, programs, and moments that define the organization. The result is a continually growing archive the Girl Scouts can draw on for fundraising, recruitment, and storytelling all year — and a partnership built on the simplest foundation: they loved the work, so we keep making it.
